The first 3 photos I have sent are of some street art near my home. I think it is very beautiful and more communities should make space available for artist. When I was in high school my senior art class was asked to create a mural that would be put in a community garden. It was a lot of fun making a collective art piece and it showed us how difficult it can be to work with different artists on one piece. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to find artists who would want to be apart of a project that will make the Bronx beautifully decorated with street art.
The next photo is of a stand with flyers showcasing a bunch of upcoming events in the neighborhood. This stand is right outside of a playhouse that is apart of an old roman catholic church. This is something that I would like to see more of in an ideal community.
The last photo is a close up of one of the flyers I mentioned earlier. These movie nights are really special. I took my daughter to one we watched the wizard of OZ. Although most of the movies they show are old it still beats paying almost 20$ a ticket for a movie at AMC. I really enjoy events like these because you meet all kinds of people that you didn’t even realize you share this community with.
What all these photos have in common is the Arts. For me an ideal community is one that really appreciates and promotes art/artists. There are so many ways you can express your self though art, and the best part is that anyone can make art. Art encourages kids to use their imagination to create something original. Teaching kids to be creative and to think outside the box are skills that you can apply to any discipline.
